Getting "Livestreaming ready" with PC upgrades. The old PC was struggling a LOT doing simple YouTube streams (in webcam mode) and taking in HDMI capture.
Completed Sep 2020.
Lots of photos attached.
It's not often that I get given a budget to build a new computer.
Parts List
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- It's great.
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI AMD AM4 ITX Gaming Motherboard
- My other option was the cheaper Asrock Fatal1ty B450, but after looking at their BIOS update webpage I decided I'd want to pay a bit more...
- Good buy. So far, stable.
- Not worth buying latest gen B550 boards at ~$100 extra
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black
- Case: Cooler Master MasterBox NR200 MiniITX Case - Black
- Transportation-friendly for production events. Will it be making a future appearance at ICC Sydney? The Tops? Youthworks venues? Other conference venues? :O
- Comes with 1x3 PWM fan splitter cable.
- Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler - Black Edition
- I had the budget. Didn't want whiney noise when fan ramps up and down.
- Oversized for this case - prevents use of the NR200's side fan bracket.
- Scythe Fuma 2 CPU Cooler is all the rage these days. Would've went with this option instead (for more $$$) if this build was for myself. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566421
- PSU: Corsair SF450 450W 80 Plus Gold Full Modular SFX Power Supply.
- There was 1 cheaper option, but I think it was worth paying slightly extra for guaranteed zero RPM (silent) operation (at normal loads).
- Graphics: Existing NVIDIA GTX card from <2015
- For NVENC with OBS (FREE livestreaming software), and DaVinci Resolve (FREE video editing software - which I highly recommended btw!!)
Also purchased a Logitech C920e on discount - its 2020 after all.
Shout out to shoppingexpress.com.au who updated the BIOS on the mobo for no extra charge. I've only started buying things from them this year, and I can honestly recommend them!
My new favourites are ShoppingExpress > Mwave > Umart > (goodbye) MSY
Fitting a slightly oversized cooler into the Cooler Master NR200 (Photos)
1,2: The Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler does NOT exactly fit in the NR200. Well... the side panel can be force closed (the 'studs' touch the dust filter mesh). Ruler shows its not flush/level.
3,4,5: I found that the decorative pieces from the Hyper 212 can be removed. Btw the cooler comes with a tiny tube of thermal paste.
6: The side fan bracket will NOT fit even after this 'mod'. But hey the side panel (from photo 1) now closes very nicely 🙂
Current installation
Looking forward to finally being able to use digital audio over USB to/from the SL16. Perhaps will add a converted laptop display as a second monitor for OBS Multiview. I am a huge fan of recycled and 2nd hand gear!
