Phil Wickham – House Of The Lord (Drum Cover)

A praise song.

One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.

  • The Roland TD-6V is from around 2005 or something (which Edwin sold me back in 2018 👍 when I was just beginning full time working life).
  • Excited to have recently been given some old drum pads + cymbals from a friend (Pintech 2x cymbals and 1x larger 10" snare, albeit no rimshot trigger... yet... 😉). Thanks BK! 😀
    Just needed some easy repair soldering / drilling (didn't have a spare right angle jack cable that would physically fit for the splash cymbal, so I simply remounted the female jack sideways lol).
  • And it turned out that Andrew already had all the appropriate stereo insert cables at home this whole time ...oops didn't need to place that ebay order! I've now maxed out the available 10x pad inputs of the TD-6V.
  • Pretty happy with the range of sound samples + customisations through using the drum VST (via MIDI, and at very acceptable latency via ASIO so it does feel quite responsive), and so I think I'm now done spending any further $$$ on this whole electronic drum kit thing.
  • Overall, pretty neat outcome for electronic drum hardware technology that was released way back in the 2003 era - 19 years ago!

After reviewing the footage, I do need to work things like the kick pattern 🙈. One tricky thing about drumming is transcribing the notation from music recordings - "where exactly does that that offbeat kick fit in 4/4?". When the hands are busy doing the 16th hihat groove thing, my no-so-independent kick foot/brain is struggling 😅. "1, 2, 3, and 4 and" ...
